India vs Bangladesh, 2nd Test: The first session is over and it has been a great one for the Indian pacers who have wreaked havoc with the pink cherry in their hand. Bangladesh are 73/6 with opener Shadman Islam being teh top scorer with 29 runs to his name. Umesh Yadav has led the attack with 3 wickets while Ishant Sharma has picked up 2 wickets. Mohammed Shami has one scalp in his kitty and Wriddhiman Saha has joined an elite list of Indian wicket-keepers by completing 100 Test dismissals.
15:00 hrs: With that the first session has come to an end. Bangladesh will be in more trouble if Liton Das does not come out to bat after the break. The tourists are looking down the barrel currently at 73/6.
14:55 hrs: Liton Das gets hit on the head but is good to go after getting a clearance from the physio. He has hit two boundaries since and has looked the most comfortable Bangladeshi batsmen against the pink ball. Looks classy when he plays his shots both off the backfoot and on the front foot.
14:45 hrs: Saha the superman. Dives across to his right, sticks out his right hand and grabs a sensational catch. Ishant gets his second wicket, Bangladesh 6 down.
14:23 hrs: Umesh picks his 3rd wicket: Another length ball which is angled across the left-hander, it is meek poke, the edge is taken and Bangladesh have lost half their side. India are flying right now, this crowd is all pumped.
14:10 hrs: Shami joins the party: Aritra reporting from Kolkata says:
Don’t see the spinners coming into the attack any time soon. We had en entire session of pace in Indore, don’t be surprised if it continues the same for India here at Eden Gardens. Some top quality fast bowling from Ishant, Umesh and Shami and ordinary batting from the Bangladesh top-order marked the first hour of the historic pink ball Test
14:02 hrs: 2 wickets in a jiffy for India: Rohit takes a screamer at second slip. Flies across to his right and plucks an absolutely stunning catch. The ball nipped back in and smashes the stumps. Mithun has to walk back, Bangladesh lose 3 in a jiffy.
Aritra Mukherjee from Eden Gardens points out that Umesh changed ends and this works wonders.
13:32 hrs: India waste a review. Indian team thought they have got the second breakthrough but the umpire termed it not out. Virat Kohli took DRS and like Bangladesh wasted a review at the start of the innings. Pink ball is making movements now.
13:32 hrs: Umpire Joel Wilson redeemed himself as he gave a great LBW decision in favour of India. Bangladesh went for the DRS again but this time there was no doubt as the ball was clearly striking the stumps. Ishant Sharma gets India’s first wicket with the Pink Ball.
13:27 hrs: Umpire has given Imrul Kayes out after a caught behind appeal. DRS was immediately taken by the batsman and it was visible that the ball struck the thigh pad of Kayes rather than the bat.
13:19 hrs: Bangladeshi batsmen have made a steady start to their innings and have negated the small movement that the Indian seamers have got from the pitch.
13:14 hrs: Ishant has found his length. He is angling the ball in nicely from around the wicket and getting the ball to seam away. This was the length which troubled the left-handers at Indore.
13:00 hrs: No movement so far. The ball is nice and shiny, and the atmosphere is immense, but the bowlers have not got any movement.
