HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police have decided to close the flyovers along with the Nehru-Tur Ring Road (ORR) on December 31, from 11 am to 5 am in view of New Year’s Eve celebrations in the city.
According to reports, three commissioners of police in Greater Hyderabad have taken action to prevent road accidents and crime. However, the police allow people who travel to Shamshabad airport if they have travel tickets.
In addition, special drunken-drive inspections will be held at various locations throughout the city from the 31st night. Anyone driving an alcoholic beverage is fined up to Rs 10,000 and their driving license can be canceled for up to six months. They can also be jailed.
City police limited the time for New Year’s events to close at 1 a.m. in the early hours of January. These events are only allowed from 8am to 1am.
