
President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and several top leaders paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the anniversary of his first death.
The President, Prime Minister Modi and several top BJP leaders visited the former Prime Minister’s Monument in Delhi early this morning.
Mr. Vajpayee’s adopted daughter Namitha Kaul Bhattacharya and granddaughter Niharika also attended the function. Playback Singer Hariharan performed at the event.
Sadiev Atal unveiled his 94th birthday last December in memory of the legendary leader.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the tenth Prime Minister of India, headed the National Democratic Alliance government from 1998 to 2004, becoming the first Prime Minister of the country from the BJP. He served as prime minister three times – briefly in 1996, and then between 1998 and 2004.
Mr. Vajpayee withdrew from politics for several years before his death.
