
Dr. Anil Kumar Rawat, who was placed on a ventilator two days ago when the oxygen level started dipping, dies on May 8. This is the first death of a doctor who was fully vaccinated against Covid-19 disease, The Indian Express reported, citing Dr. P K Bharadwaj, chief executive director of Saroj Hospital.
According to the report, Dr. Rawat received the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in early March. Despite being vaccinated for more than a month, he contracted the virus in late April.
Initially, the surgeon was home alone, but he had to be rushed to hospital when his oxygen level began to sink, the report said. Two days before his death, he was placed on a ventilator and developed severe pneumonia, leading to respiratory failure.

A team of doctors made every effort to save him and also considered lung transplants, Dr.Bharadwaj told the publication.
“We gave him what he needed. We did as much as we could. It’s a huge loss. Many doctors and health care staff are still sick after taking the vaccine, but they are recovering after having mild symptoms. This is currently the first death of a doctor who has been fully vaccinated,” Bharadwaj was quoted as saying

He was with him till his last breath. “He looks like a brother to me. It is a loss that is difficult to explain,” said Dr. Jain, and Dr. Rawat has been working at Saroj Hospital since 1996.
